Liverpool have refused to remove a sell-on clause for future transfers of Brazilian midfielder Allan Rodrigues.
Allan spent five years at Liverpool, leaving for Atletico Mineiro in 2020 having failed to play a single minute for the Reds. Since leaving though, the 26-year-old has found his feet back in his homeland
Having impressed in Atletico’s title win in 2021, Allan is now on the verge of joining Brazilian giants Flamengo. But according to journalist Vene Casagrande on Twitter, Liverpool’s determination to be compensated is slowing the transfer down, and upsetting the player.
Atletico-MG called Liverpool to find out if the club would give up its share of Allan’s solidarity mechanism, close to signing with Flamengo. English team denied,” Casagrande wrote.
“The situation already bothers even the player, who is only waiting for the release of the Rooster to travel to Rio.

Liverpool holding up Allan move
This is an interesting situation developing in Brazil. As Liverpool technically developed Allan in his younger years, they are legally owed some compensation for that.
Having failed to see him develop into a valuable asset during his time at the club, the Reds could still see a return on their investment, three years on.
Casagrande doesn’t mention a fee in his reporting here. But given the kind of money players usually go for between Brazilian top flight clubs, it’s unlikely to be much.
Nevertheless, Liverpool are right not to budge here. They may be a much richer club than both Atletico and Flamengo, but they’ll want their slice of the pie.
As we know, recouping money from player sales is still a big part of the way the Reds do business. With plenty of activity still expected in this summer’s market, every little helps.
Of course, it would be a great shame if Allan misses out on a dream move and Liverpool should bear that in mind. He spoke last year of how he still hoped to one day return to see Anfield. It wouldn’t be good to sour that relationship.
But business is business and Liverpool are no mugs. Flamengo or Atletico can either pay up, or lose the player and/or transfer fee. Fair is fiar.
