According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spanish youth international has agreed to make the switch to Napoli with the reigning Italian champions now working on a fee with the La Liga side for Veiga.
With a release clause of €40m (£34m), there’s a good chance that Napoli will have to match this figure if they’re to sign Veiga, a fee that Liverpool are seemingly not willing to match this summer.
The Reds have been strongly linked with a move for Veiga this summer alongside a number of other Premier League clubs. Yet Romeo Lavia is seemingly Liverpool’s priority this week.
As a result, Napoli are now in the clear to sign Veiga, with Celta Vigo likely to push the Serie A champions all the way to their demanded fee of £34m for the Spanish wonderkid
Veiga has felt like a mythical player amongst Liverpool fans given how much the midfielder has been linked with a move to Anfield this summer.
Yet with Napoli now closing in on the youngster, the Reds could soon regret missing out on the Spanish prospect, who could have been a great addition for Liverpool.
Whilst Lavia would be a sensational deal and one that Jurgen Klopp’s side need, Veiga would no doubt be as good a signing for Liverpool, with goalscoring midfielders a rare breed in this era of the game.
