Perhaps the biggest surprise of the just concluded season was the Green Bay Packers. This team didn’t even seem like they would be competitive early in the season. But they turned things around, and the only thing that kept them from contending for the NFC title was a devastating loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round.
For Green Bay, though, adjustments are going to be necessary this summer, just like they are every other offseason. The Packers are likely to lose a few players in free agency, even though they might be able to retain most of the important players from what ended up being an extremely successful season.
Ken Ingalls, a salary cap expert, recently shared a fascinating anecdote regarding Green Bay’s recent personnel decisions. As per Ingalls’ analysis, the Packers’ failure to extend the contracts of Darnell Savage, Yosh Nijman, and Keisean Nixon suggests that they do not plan to do so:
This makes perfect sense, and considering Green Bay’s current cap situation, Ingalls stated that all three players are “likely gone.”
“It’s possible that these guys will return, but historical evidence suggests that they are unlikely to be brought back once their veteran contracts expire,” Ingalls wrote.
Your point of view caught my eye and was very interesting. Thanks. I have a question for you.
