NEWS UPDATE: After completing his permanent move to Leeds United, Joe Rodon declares he has  no chance of playing for Tottenham.

Joe Rodon has “realistically no chance” of a Tottenham spot, so he might make a permanent move to Leeds United, according to Express journalist Joe Krishnan.

The 26-year-old defender is currently on a season-long loan from the Premier League’s biggest clubs to the Championship team.

Under Whites manager Daniel Farke, Wales international Rodon has made 13 Championship appearances this season

“The centre-back, 26, has been farmed out on loan over the past two seasons and failed to earn a permanent switch to Rennes last season,” Krishnan wrote for the Express (19 November).

“His stint with Leeds has looked more promising and the Wales defender may be keen to join them permanently, as he has realistically no chance of breaking into the team under Ange Postecoglou.

Leeds were definitely in need of a new centre-back following the departures of the likes of Robin Koch and Max Wober in the summer transfer window.

Both players only left Elland Road on loan, but it remains to be seen if they will return to West Yorkshire next summer.

If they don’t, it seems that Whites boss Farke has the ideal player in Rodon, who has done a superb job at the back in his brief Leeds career so far.

The man in the dugout has relied heavily upon the Wales international, who has helped the club climb to third place in the Championship table after their initial struggles.

It is a move that would certainly make sense for all parties, with Tottenham manager Postecoglou evidently not needing the central defender in North London.

Leeds meanwhile definitely need him, while the player himself is getting regular football, which in turn is helping him remain in contention for Wales when it comes to the international stage.
