The Bulls point guard tore his meniscus in January 2022 and hasn’t played since – with three surgeries being performed on his left knee in slightly more than a year

  1. Ball is set to miss the entire 2023-24 season as well after undergoing a cartilage transplant in March but expects to be back on the court at some point.

‘I couldn’t control getting hurt or not getting hurt or anything like that,’ he continued. ‘It’s just something that happened to me, part of my career.

I try to stay positive. I don’t look at the negatives. I try to think about what I can do to get better and that’s how I wake up every day and live.

Ball has struggled with injuries throughout his career, as he’s topped 60 games (out of 82) in just one of five seasons.

He played just 35 times in 2021-22 – his most recent season – after signing a four-year, $80million deal with the Bulls.

Nonetheless, he was a significant player for Chicago before getting hurt as he averaged 13 points and 5.1 assists on nearly 35 minutes per game.
