Birmingham City handed Leeds United handed transfer boost as Birmingham City loanee Cody Drameh renew his contract with parent club Leeds United
Birmingham City loanee Cody Drameh has no intention of renewing his contract with parent club Leeds United, according to reports.
The 21-year-old joined Blues on a season-long stay in the summer and has impressed at St Andrew’s. His loan is said to include an option for Blues to make the deal permanent next summer.
Drameh’s contract at Leeds is set to run out at the end of the season, and they would only be “entitled to compensation” if he agreed to an extension, according to The Athletic. However, it seems that is an unlikely eventuality. The right-back is claimed to have “no intention” of taking up a fresh deal at Elland Road, says The Athletic
Previous reports claimed Blues had jumped to the front of the queue to sign Drameh when former boss John Eustace was in charge.
He previously said: “If you look at the players we had on loan last season, Dion [Sanderson] and Krystian [Bielik], at the end of their loans they wanted to sign for the football club. We have loan players in and don’t look at them any differently. They are part of the family and I want them here as long as we can have them.
“If there’s an opportunity then to sign them when they have done well, I want to make them feel special and make them want to sign for us. Those loan players we’ve got in at the moment, they have been great, and hopefully they can stake a claim and the fans can love them.”
