With a 1-0 victory over Championship leaders Leicester City on Friday night, third-place Leeds pulled within six points of second-place Suffolk Town. The Tractor Boys then earned a point on Saturday in a 2-2 draw with Birmingham City.
Though second-place Ipswich has a game in hand and Kieran McKenna’s team will play third-bottom Rotherham United on the road tomorrow evening, Daniel Farke’s team is currently seven points out of the automatic promotion spots.
Four days later, Leeds will play again when sixth-place Plymouth Argyle visits. By then, Ipswich’s match will have transformed the automatic promotion situation, giving McKenna’s team the opportunity to go 10 or eight points clear.
On Saturday, the top three teams in the division play at 3 p.m., with Ipswich hosting Swansea City in 14th place and Leicester City traveling to Middlesbrough in 12th place.
