Manchester City are reportedly agreed to offer Declan Rice a contract worth £200,000-a-week, and also equal their transfer record to sign the ace from West Ham United.
City are now a concrete option for Rice.
The 24-year-old had been strongly linked with Arsenal, and still are.
But City are now firmly in the hunt, and would like to add him to the squad. David Ornstein claimed earlier today that the club are ready to make a bid.
But Pep Guardiola is ready to bolster his pool of midfield options further with a move for Rice – and is ready to offer West Ham a huge fee.
Manchester City ready to offer Declan Rice £200,000-a-week contract
It has been reported by the Mirror this afternoon that City are ready to gazump Arsenal over Rice.
Pep sees Rice as an ideal replacement for the departing Ilkay Gundogan, and is therefore prepared to throw a lot of money at the Irons captain.
The Mirror say that City are ready to pay £100 million for Rice. That is the same amount the club paid to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in 2021.
It is also stated that City would have no problem agreeing personal terms with Rice.
The club is apparently now ready to offer Rice a contract worth £200,000-a-week.
That would put him in and around the likes of John Stones, Phil Foden and Rodri as a top earner at the club, although he would be slightly below Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Jack Grealish.
Declan Rice has got to choose Manchester City over Arsenal, as club prepare to make contract offer
Arsenal would likely be able to match this contract offer of £200,000-a-week.
But 42-cap England international Rice should still choose City over the Gunners this summer.
He would obviously start week in, week out at the Emirates Stadium.
But he would likely be a regular at City too – he would probably play in John Stones’ position next to Rodri in midfield, with Stones probably dropping back to play in the right of a back three.
If he is as ambitious as he says he is, then he will not think twice about joining a team that has dominated English football over the last decade and just won a Treble.
