Minneapolis, Minnesota The agent for Kirk Cousins will have a full plate in the coming weeks.
On March 13, Cousins, 35, will be eligible for free agency. Pete Prisco of CBS Sports reports that Cousins will be the league’s top free agent. On Wednesday, Prisco unveiled his ranking of the top 100 free agents, with Cousins at the top.
According to Prisco, Cousins is a competent quarterback who has the ability to lead a strong team to victory in the Super Bowl. “Despite recovering from a ruptured Achilles tendon, he should be ready to play by the start of 2024, which makes him a valuable starter in a league where teams are in dire need of that kind of player under center.”

Prisco believes Cousins will re-sign with the Vikings, but there will probably be a lot of teams interested in signing him if he decides to become a free agent. Cousins was possibly having his best season of his career prior to his injury. He is undoubtedly approaching the end of his career.
Danielle Hunter, a pass rusher, is another unrestricted free agent for the Vikings and is ranked No. 5 in the rankings.
“He had 16.5 sacks last season and remains a top edge player,” Prisco writes. “The Vikings will likely do what they can to keep him because it’s hard to find good edge players.”
Hunter signed a one-year deal with the Vikings last offseason, but has been seeking an improved contract for several years now. Pass rushers are in high demand, particularly ones as good as Hunter, so the Vikings could be outbid.
Prisco has two more Vikings on his roster: guard Dalton Risner (ranked No.91) and pass rusher D.J. Wonnum (ranked No. 63).
For a team in need of rushers, Prisco said that Wonnum would make a “nice third rusher or spot starter.” Since No. 2 pass rusher Marcus Davenport, who is also a free agent, was out due to injury for the majority of last season, the 26-year-old actually started most of that campaign for the Vikings. With a torn quad, Wonnum ended the season on injured reserve.
