Nottingham Forest finally loses points to the FA for a “minor breach”Keith Wyness, the former chief executive of Aston Villa and Everton, has stated that Nottingham Forest’s “minor breach” of the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability (PSR) regulations should not result in a point deduction.
The 66-year-old, who ran a football consultancy advising elite clubs after serving as CEO at Goodison Park from 2004 to 2009, stated he has “sympathy” with the Midlands club for attempting to “safeguard their investment” and “secure their place” in the top tier in an interview with Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.
Following the publishing of their 2022–23 financial statements, Forest was accused of violating PSR regulations in January. The club was said to have exceeded its permissible losses of £61 million over three years, culminating in the conclusion of the previous season.
Before the 2023–24 season ends, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will learn the outcome of their trial; if found guilty, a possible point deduction may be in order.

Everton has already received an instant 10-point deduction after being found guilty of a similar infraction.
In the 2022–2023 season, Forest signed no fewer than thirty players after being promoted from the Championship.
“From what I’ve read—I have no inside knowledge of the situation at Forest—it seems to come down to player spending,” Wyness stated on Football Insider’s Insider Track programme.
