NEWS UPDATE: Nunavut officially declares its withdrawal from the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship.

Ottawa — Withdrawing from the Canadian women’s curling championship is Nunavut. Curling Canada announced in a statement on Monday that there will still be 18 teams competing in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts, which is set for February 16–25 at Calgary’s WinSport Event Centre.

After provincial and territorial championships, the team with the highest ranking in the Canadian Team Ranking System (CTRS) will advance to the national championship.

Teams led by Rachel Homan and Jennifer Jones have already qualified because they are ranked in the top three.

The next two teams to qualify for the national tournament through provincial and territorial titles will be added to the Hearts roster. The foursome led by Kerri Einarson returns as the reigning champions.

From March 1–10 in Regina, Nunavut will participate in the 2024 Canadian men’s championship. In Montana’s Brier, a team skipped by Shane Latimer will compete.
