Following Pippo Inzaghi’s dismissal, Fabio Liverani was named Salernitana’s new coach. This makes Liverani the third different tactician to take the bench at Stadio Arechi during this turbulent season.
The statements, which were made public this afternoon, first confirmed that Liverani had signed a contract that would last until June 30 and then that Inzaghi had been relieved of his responsibilities.
After serving as the Cagliari bench for just 20 games, ending in December 2022, the 47-year-old former midfielder for Lazio and Italy has returned to football management.
As a coach, he also held positions at Genoa, Leyton Orient, Ternana, Lecce, and Parma.
Strangely, Liverani has now collaborated on multiple projects with Walter Sabatini, the director of sport.
Only hired on October 10, Inzaghi was let go by Salernitana after just three victories, four draws, and eleven losses in Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
Paulo Sousa, who was dismissed on October 10, 2023, had only managed one victory, three ties, and five losses in all competitions. He had been replaced by him.
Salernitana is currently five points behind the other teams in the battle to avoid relegation and is at the very bottom of the Serie A standings.
