News update:Cowboys place WR CeeDee Lamb shut down for rest of season with Cowboys already eliminated Lamb, CB Amani Oruwariye on injured reserve

The Dallas Cowboys have placed wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and cornerback Amani Oruwariye on injured reserve, effectively ending their seasons.

Lamb sustained a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder during a Week 9 game against the Atlanta Falcons. Despite the injury, he continued to play through the pain, demonstrating remarkable resilience. However, after aggravating the injury during the Thanksgiving Day game against the New York Giants and again in a recent matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the decision was made to sideline him for the remaining games to prioritize his long-term health.

In the 2024 season, Lamb showcased his talent and consistency, recording 101 receptions for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns over 15 games. His performance solidified his status as a key offensive player for the Cowboys. Fortunately, reports indicate that Lamb will not require surgery and is expected to make a full recovery, allowing him to participate in offseason activities and prepare for the next season.

Cornerback Amani Oruwariye has also been placed on injured reserve due to a foot injury. Oruwariye’s contributions to the Cowboys’ secondary have been valuable, and his absence will be felt in the defensive lineup. The team had already ruled him out for the upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles before making the decision to place him on injured reserve.

In response to these roster changes, the Cowboys have made several adjustments to maintain depth and competitiveness. They have signed linebacker Darius Harris from the practice squad and activated offensive tackle Asim Richards from injured reserve. Additionally, cornerback Troy Pride and center Dakoda Shepley have been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster for the upcoming game.

With a current record of 7-8, the Cowboys have been eliminated from playoff contention. Head coach Mike McCarthy emphasized the importance of player health and development as the team approaches the final games of the season. He encourages his players to approach these games with confidence and determination, focusing on building momentum and evaluating talent for the future.

The Cowboys are set to face the Philadelphia Eagles in their next matchup. Despite the absence of key players like Lamb and Oruwariye, the team aims to compete vigorously and end the season on a positive note. The upcoming games also provide an opportunity for other players to step up and make significant contributions, potentially influencing roster decisions for the next season.
