Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell would be a part of the framework of a trade between the Lakers and Hawks that would center on guard Dejounte Murray, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.Russell, D’Angelo
Scotto continued, “That is, if the Hawks could send Russell to a third team.”
Guard D’Angelo Russell would probably be a part of any framework for a Murray trade to the Lakers, according to league sources who spoke with HoopsHype, Scotto wrote. “But that would require Russell to be traded to a third Atlanta team during the process.
In particular, the Lakers are rumored to be searching for a wing player with quickness and athleticism to complement LeBron James and Anthony Davis as a reliable scoring option. Murray, who is being made available by Atlanta and shares an agent with James and Davis named Rich Paul, seems to be of particular interest to them.
Murray is shooting 38% from 3-point range and 47% from the field while dishing out 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. This season, he is due $17.7 million.
Murray signed a $114 million, four-year contract extension with the Hawks in July, and it is generally anticipated that he will be dealt before the deadline of February 8.
Russell is averaging 2.8 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 15.7 points. He is making 40% of his shots and 47% of his total shots.
Either way, both teams are likely to benefit from a deal. All the Lakers and Hawks have to do is determine if it’s a move that will help them advance.
