NEWS UPDATE:The Dallas Cowboys president officially declared DQ, replacing Pete Carroll of the Seahawks.

Dan Quinn has been a game-changer for the Dallas Cowboys defense since his arrival in 2021. After Quinn took over, Dallas’ defense—which was among the worst in the NFL in 2020—became one of the best in the league. Quinn’s plan has clearly had an impact, even though part of that can be attributed to personnel changes, most notably the 2021 draft selection of star pass-rusher Micah Parsons. Quinn’s stellar performance in Dallas has made him a favorite to take over as head coach once more. The former coach of the Atlanta Falcons chose to stay with the Cowboys during the offseason despite interviewing for several other positions. Watch out for the most recent rumor, though.

If longtime coach Pete Carroll decides to retire, Quinn would be on the Seattle Seahawks’ radar, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. “Retired Pete Carroll to Seattle? Although I don’t believe it, I’ve heard a lot over the past few weeks from people in these circles—that is, the people who work in these circles and the coaching carousel circles—that Dan Quinn would be Pete Carroll’s successor in Seattle if he were to retire at the end of this season.” On The Rich Eisen Show, Breer stated. Given Quinn’s prior ties to the team, one could find an opportunity in Seattle particularly alluring. In 2009 and 2010, the 53-year-old began his career with the Seahawks as an assistant head coach and defensive line coach.
