Nottingham Forest are closing in on the £7million signing of Arsenal‘s USA international goalkeeper Matt Turner.
The deal will help Arsenal as they look to reach an agreement with Brentford for David Raya.
Arsenal had proposed £23m for Raya last week with the Spain international valued at £40m but there is hope on their part that Brentford will agree a compromise closer to £30m.
Brentford, though, have to account for a sell-on clause playable to Raya’s former club Blackburn Rovers.

Turner spent last season at Arsenal but failed to make a Premier League appearance, with Aaron Ramsdale the impressive No 1 stopper at the Emirates.
Turner, 29, played seven times in cup competitions but a move to Forest would enable him to play more with a home World Cup on the horizon in 2026.
The former New England Revolution goalkeeper – who made 102 appearances in MLS – is the USMNT’s No 1 goalkeeper and recently played for his country in the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
He was the penalty shootout hero against Canada in the quarter-finals, saving two spot-kicks, before the US were eliminated by Panama in the semi-finals.
Forest’s goalkeeper situation is currently unclear, with both Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas returning to their parent clubs – Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain – following loan spells during the 2022-23 season.
Wayne Hennessey, and Turner’s fellow USMNT goalkeeper Ethan Horvath, remain on the squad list, but the team are looking at upgrades as they head into their second Premier League season.
