The latest Nottingham Forest news and views from NottinghamshireLive as Carlos Borges set to seal a transf
Reported Nottingham Forest transfer target Carlos Borges is closing in on a move to Ajax.
The Manchester City winger, 19, was linked with a move to the City Ground, while Premier League rivals West Ham were actively trying to sign the teenager.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ajax have completed a “hijack” of Borges’ mooted switch to the London Stadium. The Dutch giants are reportedly splashing out a massive fee for the Portugal under-19 international.
Ajax have reportedly agreed a £17million fee with City for Borges, who has not played a single minute of senior football in his career – excluding three games in the EFL Trophy for City’s under-21s.
As with many of their departing young talents, City will have a buy back option and sell-on clause inserted into the deal.
News of the £17m may come as quite the relief to Forest, who may not have been willing to spend such a vast sum of a player who has only ever played under-21 football
