Nottingham Forest holds discussions to sign PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Sangare amidst Tottenham Hotspur links
Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest have held discussions to sign Ibrahim Sangare from PSV Eindhoven amidst links to Tottenham Hotspur, according to The Athletic (Subscription Required).
The Tricky Trees took on the Eredivisie outfit at the Philips Stadion on 30 July. Peter Bosz’s team ended up winning 1-0. During the trip to the Netherlands, the West Bridgford-based club held talks with the Red and Whites regarding the Ivory Coast international.
As things stand, the City Ground side are keen on acquiring the midfielder’s signature in the ongoing transfer window. The 25-year-old has been on the top of their shortlist all summer. Steve Cooper’s team are also eyeing Leicester City’s Wilfried Ndidi and Leeds United’s Tyler Adams.
However, Forest are not the only team who have Sangare on their radar. Along with Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are the teams in the English top flight who have been credited with an interest in him.
PSG have also joined the race to get a hold of the Ivorian’s signature. Currently, the midfielder is tied down to PSV until June 2027 (transfermarkt). However, there is a £32 million release clause in his deal.
Sangare made his way to the Eindhoven-based club from Toulouse in the summer of 2020. Since then, the midfielder has developed into a formidable enforcer. The 25-year-old made 45 appearances in all competitions last season, playing mostly as a number six, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.
