Nottingham Forest make £31.5m bid for Roma centre-back as boss Steve Cooper seeks to boost his squad for new season

It would be the third summer move after signing Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga for £15m and striker Chris Wood on a permanent deal from Newcastle.

Nottingham Forest have made a £31.5million offer for Roma’s Brazil international centre-back Roger Ibanez.

The 24-year-old defender has impressed for Giallorossi over the last two seasons at Stadio Olimpico.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Thursday: ‘Nottingham Forest have submitted official bid to AS Roma for Roger Ibañez, proposal worth around €31.5m fee.

Negotiations underway to reach an agreement, Forest are pushing for Brazilian CB.’

‘Hopefully the other players we bring in – because we need other players that’s for sure – will be of equal athleticism,’ he said.

‘You always want young players in your squad that can become an asset to the club while having an impact on a short-term basis.
