According to his father, Martin Necas Sr., Carolina Hurricanes breakout star Martin Necas wants to be traded by the Hurricanes. If the price is right, a Philadelphia Flyers could make sense for the Metropolitan Division rivals, especially given the Flyers’ need for more talent like Necas.
The elder Necas also shared that his son was determined to play for Czechia at the IIHF Men’s World Championships, even after the New York Rangers had just eliminated him in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
The 25-year-old did, however, cross the 20-goal threshold for the second consecutive season.
In his latest “32 Thoughts” podcast episode, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman opined “Necas, I have believed for some time, that one just probably won’t work out there. I just don’t think they’re going to do what Necas wants to do.
“(Seth Jarvis), I just think he’s too valuable. They’re going to have to get something done there.”
Jarvis has been the more versatile player for Carolina, so if it’s between him and Necas, all signs point to Jarvis staying. When there’s smoke, there’s fire, and that’s going to free up Necas for the Flyers, if they wish to pursue him.
