Last season, the Oklahoma Sooners may have had the hardest schedule in the entire country, and despite being a bad team, they still found a way to win six games. No, that’s not good, but it’s better than you may think, especially when you look at everything that happened last year.
The Sooners really went through the wringer last season, and that was primarily because of all the issues on offense. Two QBs played bad football. Now, granted, it wasn’t all Jackson Arnold’s fault, or even Michael Hawkins — the offense as a whole was bad with a bad scheme, the offensive line was bad, and the Sooners dealt with some of the worst injuries in the entire country. Let’s not forget, Oklahoma once played without their top five wide receivers..
They fired their offensive coordinator, and all sorts of things happened. But one of the more impactful things that happened in the 2024 season, was that the Sooners had maybe the hardest schedule in the entire country.
And, that’s partly an SEC thing, but it’s also evident that the Sooners, along with SEC teams like the Arkansas Razorbacks, have gotten the back end of the deal. Those two had two of the hardest schedules in the country last year.
And this year is no different Only, head coach Brent Venables is open to the challenge.
