ONE MORE: Your chance to ‘Kip on the Kop’ at Anfield

LFC Foundation and Liverpool fan John Bishop are challenging supporters to give up their bed for a sleeping bag for just one night to raise vital funds for thousands of people sleeping rough across the UK.

The ‘Kip on the Kop’ event is a fundraising challenge that doesn’t replicate what it’s like for those who are forced to sleep rough, but gives an idea of the situation that many people find themselves in, while also supporting those who face this as a reality every night.

Bishop, comedian and ambassador for Liverpool Homeless FC, one of the charities who will benefit from the event, said: “Being on the Kop is always special but to sleep there and by doing so help highlight the plight of homeless people in Liverpool and beyond is a rare opportunity.

“I hope as many people as possible make it a night to remember and use this as a chance to make a difference and let those people who are unseen know that we see them.”

This event, which takes place on Saturday September 9, will give supporters the unique opportunity to spend the night on the Kop at Anfield and help to raise funds to support people who are vulnerable across the city, while also raising awareness of some of the challenges they face.

Funds raised through this event will go towards supporting LFC Foundation’s Global Works programme, which provides sport-based employability sessions and mentoring for young people who have experienced homelessness, as well as Liverpool Homeless FC, who formed an annual five-a-side league that was founded for, and is accessed by, people who are affected by homelessness across the region.

Currently the league is made up of 18 homelessness organisations that operate across Merseyside, with a focus on inclusion, fun and helping to move lives forward.John Bishop

Matt Parish, CEO of LFC Foundation, added: “This is the first time we have held a sleepout event at Anfield. It’s a unique opportunity for supporters to experience what it’s like for those who are forced to sleep rough every night, with the chance to do this in an iconic venue while raising funds and awareness for two charities that can help make a real difference to those who need it.”
