Philadelphia Eagles player “caught with a loaded drugs” in New York City

Several sources claim that the father of a famous player for the Philadelphia Eagles was observed driving in the Bronx with a loaded gun.

A day after the event, on Thursday night, Fox News claimed that the firearm was found by the New York Police Department after pulling Alibay Barkley over during a traffic stop at the intersection of 140th Street and Third Avenue in Mott Haven.

It’s unknown if the car had any other occupants when the traffic stop occurred.

Alibay Barkley is the father of former Giants running back Saquon Barkley, who was raised in the Bronx and played in New York for the last six seasons. Barkley Sr could now end up being charged with criminal possession of a weapon, per Fox News.

Barkley’s father was a boxer when the NFL star was younger and spent a year in prison, but that is about all that is known about him, according to Essentially Sports. Following his jail term, Barkley Sr. relocated his family from New York to Pennsylvania, according to the outlet.

Barkley, 27, was homeless as a youngster for a spell while his father was incarcerated. The Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball once selected his brother Alibay Jr. as a first-round pick. Iran Barkley, a former heavyweight in the UFC, is his great uncle.

The Eagles signed Barkley to a three-year, $37.75 million contract earlier this offseason. According to Spotrac, his average yearly compensation of $12.583 million places him fourth among NFL running backs.

Barkley played nine games against Philadelphia and amassed 865 yards (615 running, 250 catching) and seven touchdowns.

Drafted second overall in 2018, Barkley won the NFL’s OROY award and went on to play in two Pro Bowls with New York. Having gained 5,211 running yards in 74 starts, he is fourth in team history.

Barkley takes D’Andre Swift’s spot, who placed fifth in the NFL in 2023 despite recording a career-high 1,049 running yards in his only season with the Eagles. After signing with the Chicago Bears, Swift took over for Miles Sanders, who finished seventh in the NFL in 2022 after leading Philadelphia with 1,269 rushing yards in his career.
