PSG held transfer meeting over £86m Tottenham deal

Latest Tottenham transfer news as Harry Kane is linked with a move to PSG and Bayern Munich this summer after Man United pulled out of the race to sign the England captain

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane this summer.

Kane has been the subject of intense speculation since the end of last season with Bayern Munich keen on signing the England captain. The 29 year-old has one year left on his Spurs contract and the club will be keen to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer

As a result of Kane entering the final season of his current deal with his boyhood club, his market value has drastically reduced. Tottenham are keen to sign the striker down to a new contract and be central to the plans of new head coach Ange Postecoglou.

However, reports in France have claimed that PSG are now an option for Kane having held meetings with Spurs and the player about a move. RMC Sport reports that PSG have ‘concentrated’ their efforts on trying to land Kane and was in London only last week for discussions

It is said that PSG initially failed in their first attempts to sign him but they will now try to convince Kane that Luis Enrique’s side is the right place for him. There is a familiarity between Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the PSG president, while a transfer fee of £86million has been mooted.

At his introductory press conference earlier this week, Postecoglou dealt with questions about Kane’s future in a forthright manner. “No, I haven’t had any assurances (over Kane’s future) and I wouldn’t expect any assurances because with these kinds of things you’re never dealing in definites or certainties,” he said

“I’m trying to concentrate on the things that I know right now, and what I know right now is that Harry’s part of this squad. “If I spend too much time worrying about the impact that it may have either way, I’m going to miss trying to build a team because ultimately that’s what’s going to make us successful.”
