Real Deal: Lakers finalized their agreement to acquire $120 million two-way star for D’Angelo Russell,

Sam Amick of The Athletic believes that the Los Angeles Lakers will sign Dejounte Murray eventually rather than if.

Amick conducted surveys among NBA players and came to the conclusion that the Lakers have the best chance of acquiring the star guard for the $120 million Atlanta Hawks.

“That [trade] feels like it has just very real legs to it,” Amick stated during the podcast recording of “The Athletic NBA Show” on January 23. According to Shams Charania, there has been back and forth with the offers. There was some talk that Austin Reeves was someone the Hawks would really love to have. You are aware that won’t occur, correct?

It remains to be seen how long [Hawks general manager] Landry Fields holds out, but it appears as though the Lakers have broken away from the Dejounte pack and, in a way, have locked in on him as a player they believe can help them.

According to Charania, the Lakers and the Hawks have previously talked about the parameters of a

“On Fanduel TV’s “Run It Back” on January 22, Charania stated, “The Lakers and Hawks did have some pretty extensive conversations about a Dejounte Murray trade a couple of weeks ago.” D’Angelo Russell, a 2029 first-round draft pick, and a pick swap were the main points of contention. I’m told the holdup was that Atlanta wanted to find a third team for D’Angelo Russell.
