Richie Stevens and Erica Enders, the most stunning couple in drag racing, barge into Martin

MARTIN – Richie Stevens Jr. and Erica Enders both made drag racing history during an eight-day stretch earlier this summer, but that wasn’t even the best thing that happened to them.

“It was way beyond the icing on the cake, said Enders, 28.

Stevens and Enders are both at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park this weekend. Stevens is racing his Pro Stock in the American Drag Racing League’s Summer Nationals VIII, and Enders is in town to provide support since the National Hot Rod Association has the weekend off.

It proved to be a good call for Stevens.

“We were planning on getting married anyways, but I was by no means expecting this,” Enders said. “I was flabbergasted. I was shocked in a very good way.”

Action will conclude at Martin with today’s eliminations beginning at 3:30 p.m. after rain played havoc with Friday’s qualifying sessions. There were two lengthy delays due to weather, forcing officials to cancel one of the three qualifying rounds due to time limitations.

Stevens arrived in Martin leading the Pro Stock division point standings, and he is hoping the momentum from his recent victory will keep him rolling at Martin.

“To finally get that first win and get that monkey off our back has been really good,” Stevens said. “We only have been (in the ADRL) for the past year-and-a-half, but you want to win. The guys on the crew did their job and I did my job, we had some luck on our side and finally got the win.”

Enders said she felt a sense of relief after winning, too. She was a three-time event runner-up last year before getting her first win this summer.
