Leeds United are set to be able to call upon both Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas in the coming weeks, adding crucial options at left-back for Daniel Farke.
The Whites have never been blessed with a spotless injury record, and Daniel Farke quickly learned that his squad succumbs to injury headaches fairly often.
Left-back has frequently been an area of concern for Leeds managers prior to Farke, and the German has been leaning heavily on the fitness of surprise package Sam Byram thus far this season.
Along with Byram, Leeds have also looked to Jamie Shackleton more recently on the left side of defense, with the academy graduate’s versatility seeing him impress early in the season alongside Byram.
Leo Hjelde was looked at in the first two games of the season against Cardiff City and Shrewsbury Town, but him being hooked at half-time in both and not featuring since paints a picture of his standing for the position.
A major boost for Farke is looming.
While Byram hasn’t done anything this season to warrant being dropped on his performances, there is always the lingering worry that his body will fail him, especially after injury nightmares at Norwich City.
So, to have both Firpo and Dallas back in training and pushing towards full fitness must be a weight off Farke’s and Byram’s shoulders regarding the 30-year-old’s fitness, as he confirmed earlier this week that Firpo would need just a couple of weeks to be back at top speed and said this pre-match this week (via the YEP).
