Zak Lovelace has given Rangers fans hope that his hamstring injury isn’t as bad as initially feared.

The 17-year-old was forced off against St Mirren on Sunday after just 40 minutes of play when he went down clutching his leg. Lovelace was handed a rare opportunity to impress from the start by interim Gers boss Steven Davis and played a big part in the opening goal of the 3-0 Rangers win in Paisley.

But just before half-time, he was stretchered out of the stadium writhing in pain, which left many Light Blues fans fearing the worst. Now though, Lovelace has taken to Instagram, publishing a gallery of pictures from the game yesterday accompanied by an encouraging caption. He first told of his delight about earning a starting chance, before addressing his injury.

He wrote: “Happy to get my first start for rangers and to be involved in the first goal. Unfortunate to pick up a injury but I shall be back soon”.

It’s a positive sign for the former Millwall kid and he’ll be hoping the injury won’t keep him out of action for too long, with the hope he can kick on and appear for Rangers more under the new permanent boss across the rest of the campaign.
