Salernitana officially fires coach Filippo Inzaghi, The team announces that an agreement has been reached with the new coach.
Salernitana, a struggling team in Serie A, fired head coach Davide Nicola on Wednesday for the second time in as many months.
With a series of succinct statements on their website, Salernitana, who are currently only four points above the relegation zone, formally confirmed what the Italian media had been reporting.
“Mr. Davide Nicola has been relieved of his duties as First Team coach by U.S. Salernitana 1919.”
When fourth-place Spezia, two points behind Salernitana, announced on Wednesday that they had fired coach Luca Gotti, Nicola was not the only one looking for a new position.
For Salernitana, Filippo Inzaghi has taken on the role of head mentor. Paulo Souza has been relieved of his duties by the Salerno-based club because of his poor performance in the early part of the season. Salernitana is currently mired in the Serie A relegation zone, having managed just three points from eight rounds. The Southern Italian club suffered a setback at the hands of “Inter,” which is managed by Filippo’s brother, Simone Inzaghi.
In terms of Filippo Inzaghi’s coaching experience, he has led teams in the past that include Brescia, Milan, Venice, Bologna, Benevento, and Reggina.
