The odds for the next Lakers head coach have been leaked in response to the mounting calls for Ham’s dismissal, with Phil Handy emerging as the clear favorite. Since the 2019–20 season, Handy has served as an assistant coach for the Lakers. He is acquainted with LeBron James, having assisted the Cavaliers during James’ second stint there.

After the turbulent 2021–22 season, Ham was named head coach of the Lakers.
