After just five games in charge, Salernitana fired Fabio Liverani and are about to name Stefano Colantuono as their fourth coach of the year.
Liverani was notified of his termination today, but a formal statement is anticipated on Tuesday.
The team is abysmal in the Serie A standings and most likely headed for relegation.
following Paulo Sousa was fired on October 10 following just one win, three draws, and five losses in all competition, Liverani became their third coach of the year.
After taking over, Pippo Inzaghi managed three wins, four ties, and eleven defeats in 18 Serie A and Coppa Italia games.
After being hired on February 11th, Liverani had the lowest average of the three, managing just one draw against Udinese’s 10-man team and four losses.
Salernitana let up twelve goals and managed just three goals in his time.
Since Inzaghi’s contract is still in effect, there were rumors that he would be called back to work. However, Sportitalia, Tuttomercatoweb, and Sky Sport Italia reported that President Danilo Iervolino turned down the request to extend Inzaghi’s employment.
Colantuono, who is now in charge of the young academy, will be promoted instead.
Prior to joining Colantuono, he was a Serie A coach with Catania, Perugia, Atalanta, Palermo, Torino, and Udinese.
