Salernitana officially welcomes another veteran to Filippo Inzaghi’s squad with the official signing of free agent Jerome Boateng.

With the impending arrival of free agent Jerome Boateng, Salernitana will have another seasoned player in Filippo Inzaghi’s lineup.

A reputation for welcoming seasoned winners nearing the end of their careers has begun to emerge for the Granata; recent examples include Franck Ribery and Guillermo Ochoa.

Since his contract with Olympique Lyon expired at the end of the previous season, Boateng has been free to sign with any team. Over the past few years, the center back has been plagued by off-pitch legal issues that have severely disrupted his career.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported that Salernitana is nearly prepared to sign Boateng on a free transfer; they are merely awaiting the completion of Matteo Lovato’s transfer to Torino.

With only 12 points at the bottom of the league table and just two victories in the previous five months, the Granata find themselves in a challenging situation as they prepare for the 22nd round of Serie A.

It was reported earlier this month that Ribery was in communication with Boateng, trying to persuade him to move to Salerno from his former team, Bayern Munich.
