Salernitana owner officially Confirmed Franck Ribéry as New Manager

Franck Ribéry, the esteemed former French international and Bayern Munich legend, has been officially appointed as the new manager of U.S. Salernitana 1919, a Serie A club based in Salerno, Italy. This announcement marks a significant milestone in Ribéry’s post-playing career, transitioning from a celebrated player to a managerial role.

Ribéry concluded his illustrious playing career in October 2022 at Salernitana, where he had a brief stint following his tenure at Fiorentina. After retiring due to persistent knee issues, he remained with the club, contributing as an assistant coach. During this period, Ribéry pursued his coaching qualifications, obtaining his UEFA A license in September 2024, which authorizes him to manage teams up to Serie C level. His ambition to lead at the highest levels of football is evident, with plans to acquire the UEFA Pro license, enabling him to manage top-tier teams across Europe.

Salernitana’s decision to appoint Ribéry reflects their confidence in his deep understanding of the game, leadership qualities, and the invaluable experience garnered throughout his playing career. Known for his exceptional skill, vision, and competitive spirit, Ribéry’s transition into management is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective and renewed vigor to the team.

The club’s supporters have previously shown immense admiration for Ribéry. His initial signing as a player in 2021 was met with great enthusiasm, with fans dubbing him the “King of Salerno” and drawing parallels to Diego Maradona’s historic move to Napoli. This appointment is expected to reignite that fervor, fostering a strong connection between the manager, players, and the fan base.

Ribéry’s primary objective will be to steer Salernitana towards stability in Serie A, aiming to improve their league standing and ensure consistent performances. His extensive experience in top-flight football, coupled with his recent coaching endeavors, positions him well to tackle the challenges of Serie A management.

As Ribéry embarks on this new chapter, the football community will keenly observe his managerial approach and the impact he will have on Salernitana’s fortunes. His journey from a world-class player to a managerial role serves as an inspiration, highlighting the seamless transition from on-field excellence to leadership off the pitch.
