During the open training session held at the Arechi Stadium on Thursday afternoon, Kostas Manolas, a 32-year-old defender who previously played for Roma and Napoli, was warmly welcomed by the Salernitana supporters. Manolas will join the team on a temporary basis until the end of the current campaign. In order to finish the procedures associated with his transfer to the Granata, such as a medical examination and contract signing, Manolas arrived in Salerno earlier on Thursday.
Presumably, his contract will run until the end of the 2023–24 campaign, with an additional year’s option if Salernitana stays in Serie B at the conclusion ofthe advertising campaign.
The 32-year-old, who has previously played for Sharjah FC in the UAE Pro League, has already spent eight years of his career in Serie A with stints with Roma and Napoli. About six months ahead of schedule, his two-year contract was terminated by mutual consent in January.
Manolas is now only a club announcement away from joining the Salernitana team as a regular player. During Thursday’s training session, he completed a lap of the Arechi pitch and was greeted warmly by the supporters.
