Shakedown confirmed Johann Zarco’s good feelings: ‘It seems that I can also enjoy’

After a disappointing 2023 season, the New York Yankees have upgraded their roster in a number of areas, but there are still unknowns regarding what their bullpen might look like on Opening Day.

The New York Yankees have made several roster upgrades following a dismal 2023 campaign, but it’s still unclear what their bullpen will look like on Opening Day.

Schusterman continued, “The move would make sense for both sides,” pointing out that Peraza will find it difficult to establish himself in the Yankees’ lineup now that Jorbit Vivas has been acquired by New York. A.J. Puk and Andrew Nardi, left-handed relievers for the Marlins, will cover for Scott in the interim.

Peraza slashed.191/.267/.272 in 173 at-bats in the Show last season due to some issues, so he might benefit from a change of scenery.

According to Shusterman, “Peraza was a unanimous top-100 prospect whose strong glove and contact skills formed a promising profile that projected to pair well in the Yankees infield alongside the more-hyped Anthony Volpe.” “Despite his undeniable struggles in the Bronx as a rookie at the big-league level, there’s still real talent here that shouldn’t be written off,”

Jon Berti, a seasoned utility player, is currently projected by the Marlins to be the starting shortstop. If Peraza earns playing time, Berti shouldn’t be able to prevent him from doing so.

Shusterman said, “This could definitely be a match if Miami evaluates Peraza as a potential starting shortstop the way much of the industry did not that long ago.”

Max Goodman of NJ.com wrote, “The Yankees’ door to upgrade their bullpen via free agency is closing fast as relievers continue to fly off the shelves.”

Therefore, the team may still make a trade to acquire a pitcher like Scott, who Sportrac projects will fetch $5.5 million in 2024, as one of its final offseason moves.

Scott has a 4.00 ERA, 33 saves, and 402 strikeouts in 296.2 career innings. However, he has become the Marlins’ go-to closer over the past two seasons, with a 2.31 ERA and 12 saves in 78 innings in 2023.

Scott is the kind of underappreciated reliever that the Yankees have preferred recently, and if he keeps up this trend, he might be a better “win-now” option for the club than Peraza.
