Dexter Pittman, a former center for the Miami Heat, moved. According to Hoops Hype, Pittman, who won a championship with the Heat in 2012, has committed to play for Halcones de Xalapa in Mexico for the 2023–24 campaign.
Pittman was chosen by the Heat in the second round of the 2010 NBA Draft (with the 32nd overall pick) following his time as a college basketball player at the University of Texas. He remained with Miami through the 2012–13 season and was a member of the 2011–12 squad that won the NBA Finals in five games over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Pittman played for the Miami Heat, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Memphis Grizzlies in addition to the Heat. His most recent NBA appearance was in Atlanta in 2014. He is still actively playing professionally almost ten years later.
The Heat, meanwhile, are trying to reclaim the glory of their 2011–12 campaign. With a 15-11 record after almost two months of play, Miami is ranked fifth in the Eastern Conference. The Heat have surprisingly had a strong start to the season given the numerous injury concerns they have faced.
Due to an ankle injury, Tyler Herro has only played in eight games for the Heat this season; Bam Adebayo and other important players have also had to miss time. The absences have made it more challenging for the Heat to establish rhythm and consistency, but they still
possess a winning record and are firmly positioned in the Eastern playoff picture.
In order to restore some consistency going forward, the Heat simply need to pray that they can get past their injury problems and get their players back on the court. On Sunday, they got some good news in that area.
Miami still has six games left before 2023 ends and 2024 begins. The teams the Minnesota Timberwolves, Orlando Magic, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, Utah Jazz, and Golden State Warriors will face in those games.
Although they have a difficult final stretch of games ahead of them, the Heat will attempt to finish the year strong in order to gain some momentum for 2024.
