After his incredible playoff performance, many were expecting Austin Reaves to make a significant breakthrough, but he hasn’t. However, the Miami Heat are prepared to sign Zach LaVine, a two-time All-Star.
“Zach LaVine is not for sale in LaVine conversations, but the Miami Heat are among the teams interested in acquiring him. In trade talks, the Bulls would be chasing Austin Reaves.” Michael Scotto of Hoopshype wrote.
The Lakers moved him back into the second unit to ease his discomfort after he had trouble settling into his starting role early in the campaign.
The New Big 3 of the Lakers?
LaVine could easily step in and take over for Reaves as the Lakers’ third option, since the forward is still not able to live up to the hype.
LaVine might give the Lakers, led by LeBron James and Anthony Davis, a third scoring punch, creating a new Big 3 in Hollywood.
Despite a slow start to the season, the Bulls star wing is a proven scorer. He’s a 38.2% career 3-point shooter that would immediately boost the Lakers, who are currently 28th in the league in 3-point accuracy (33.9%) after Wednesday’s win against the lowly Detroit Pistons.
LaVine is averaging 21.0 points on 44.3% shooting overall and 33.6% from downtown — his lowest since he joined the Bulls in the Jimmy Butler trade. But joining a playoff contender could inspire him to get back to his All-Star form.
