Rangers are among the clubs who want to sign Motherwell starlet Lennon Miller and are ready to battle Celtic for his signature, according to TEAMtalk.
Writing on their official website (18 November), the news outlet report that the Gers are one of several clubs looking to sign the 17-year-old midfielder despite him penning a new deal with Motherwell recently.
Celtic are also interested, but it’s Tottenham who currently lead the race for his signature ahead of a host of Premier League clubs too.
“Motherwell starlet Lennon Miller is continuing to attract the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, despite signing a new long-term contract at the club,” they wrote.
“Despite recently penning a new deal with the club, it remains to be seen where his long-term future lies as a number of sides are ready to battle for him.
“Both Rangers and Celtic are fully aware of Miller – who while primarily a central midfielder, can play on the right, and in either a holding or attacking role – and are keeping close tabs on his progress, but they are not alone.
Sources have told TEAMtalk that Tottenham, Aston Villa, Newcastle, Brighton, Brentford and West Ham are among the clubs who have been watching him on a regular basis this season.”
Stockpile
Rangers have got one of the very best academies in the United Kingdom, but we also have fantastic scouts who can spot talent elsewhere.
The club have developed the likes Bailey Rice, Alex Lowry, Leon King, Adam Devine and Ross McCausland recently in the first-team picture, while players like Zak Lovelace have joined from elsewhere to continue their developments at the club.
Miller has already got a lot of first-team experience at Motherwell this season and after signing a new deal would likely cost a pretty penny, but Rangers are good at investing in their future.
Bringing him in would be great for the future of the club but he could also potentially offer something to the first-team too in a more short-term basis.
Beating the likes of Celtic, Tottenham and Newcastle United to his signature would be a huge coup for Rangers too, so this is one to keep an eye on for sure.
