Sky News: Leeds United officially completed the first of two signings ahead of  the deadline.

The Peacocks are almost certain to sign Werder Bremen star Ilia Gruev, which would put an end to Leeds United’s seemingly never-ending summertime pursuit of midfielders, according to The Athletic.

Gruev was permitted to skip Werder’s practice on Wednesday in order to meet with Leeds regarding a potential 4 million euro (£3.4 million) transfer before the deadline on Friday, according to a report published on Wednesday by the German newspaper Bild.

The Bulgarian international is reportedly on his way to England and is expected to finalize his move to Elland Road in the next 24 hours, according to The Athletic. However, it is unclear if the defensive midfielder will be well enough to play on Saturday against Sheffield Wednesday.

The publication did, however, refute a report from Bild regarding Gruev’s asking price, stating that Leeds United will need to pay the Bundesliga team £5 million in order to acquire the 23-year-old.

Gruev is “likely to be one of two central midfielders” who join Daniel Farke’s team before the transfer window closes, according to The Athletic, who also mentions Matt O’Riley of Celtic and Glen Kamara of Rangers as potential additions.

Sky Sports revealed yesterday that Leeds was keeping an eye on O’Riley and that they would be competing with Championship rivals Southampton for the U21 international from Denmark.

Although Kamara is the team’s top goal, the Yorkshire team may try to sign O’Riley if a deal for the Finnish star of the Rangers isn’t completed by tomorrow

For Leeds United fans and the coaching staff, the summer transfer window may come to an extremely

Gruev is a fantastic teammate and addition.
