The Heat intend to sign guard Alondes Williams, a free agent, to a two-way contract, sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN (Twitter link).
Williams signed with Miami to fill the two-way void after R.J. Hampton was waived, the team announced in a press release.
Williams, a 2022 Wake Forest graduate who was not selected in the draft, agreed to a two-way contract with the Nets before the 2022–2023 campaign began, and he played five minutes in one Brooklyn game. In January 2023, he was waived.
This past summer, the 24-year-old signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Heat, but he was cut before the regular season started. He has been a player for the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Miami’s NBAGL affiliate.
In 32 Showcase Cup and regular season games in ’23/24 (37.0 MPG), Williams has shown promise at the G League level, averaging 20.3 PPG, 6.5 APG, 5.2 RPG, and 1.3 SPG on a.499/.373/.739 shooting percentage. The NBAGL recognized his excellent play, and he was awarded spots in the Up Next and Rising Stars events for All-Star weekend, which will take place in Indianapolis the following week.
The Heat have a regular roster opening, but all three of their two-way spots are still filled after the moves.
