Heat great Tim Hardaway Sr. was joined by former Miami Heat players Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller in a recent episode of the podcast “The OGs.” The conversation covered a wide range of subjects, including Hardaway’s starting lineup selections, fascinating tales about the extraordinary Pat Riley, the Miami Heat’s present shooting reluctance, and the prospect of seeing Tim Hardaway Jr. wear a Miami jersey.
During his six-year tenure with the Heat, Hardaway left an illustrious history while wearing the recognizable No. 10 jersey. He led the team to several postseason berths as a two-time All-Star, earning a special place in Heat history that culminated with the retiring of his No. 10 jersey in 2009.
A listener asked a question about seeing Tim Hardaway Jr. play for Miami during the episode. The Hall of Famer made it clear that he would not be sharing the retired jersey, even if he expressed a wish to see his son play for the Heat.
Speaking about the current Heat team, Hardaway Sr. highlighted Terry Rozier, the starting point guard, as the player who needs to take the initiative because of the club’s propensity to pass up shots.
“Terry Rozier, you must release him.” Hardaway said, “He’s the only one who can really break somebody down and make it work.”
In response to a question about his “All-time Heat starting 5,” Hardaway Sr. selected a strong starting lineup that included Shaquille O’Neal, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Alonzo Mourning, and himself. This combination demonstrated the incredible talent that has adorned the Heat club throughout the years.
“Oh man, Shaquille O’Neal, Zo (Alonzo Mourning), Tim Hardaway, and Dwyane Wade, I got to put LeBron (James) in there. I can’t go here without my buddy.”
