When it comes to out-of-left-field Miami Heat trade rumors, give the folks at Bleacher Report some credit: They’re bold. Certainly, their latest effort qualifies as such.
The headline tabs the trade as ‘realistic’ and it is certainly something the Heat would have to consider if it were on the table. But, with Karl-Anthony Towns at the center, it is the longest of longshots for Pat Riley and the Heat.
That is a Miami Heat rumor that most fans could support in terms of establishing a higher talent level on the team. Three-time All-Star Towns is a very gifted big man with an average of 21.2 points and 9.0 rebounds who is almost ready to reach the highly sought-after 50-40-90 shooting mark. His percentages are 49.8% from the field, 39.8% from three points, and 91.9% from three points.
Towns fulfills all the requirements for long-range shooting, scoring, and creativity—all areas the Heat could use more of, according to Buckley. “Bam Adebayo, the team’s more defensively versatile frontcourt partner, could help him widen the offensive end for Miami’s downhill attackers.”
That $222 million Huge Karl-Anthony Towns Extension
That is all accurate. However, there are three significant obstacles to a Miami Heat trade rumor of this size, two of which Buckley does, at the very least, touch on.
First off, the Timberwolves aren’t exactly in a seller’s market right now. With a 13-4 record, the Wolves are the best basketball team. Towns has long groaned at the responsibility of being the first choice.
