SportsNet: Lakers Lose A $58 Million Point Guard After signing of a three-year contract in the previous offseason

Gabe Vincent’s decision to undergo knee surgery brought the Los Angeles Lakers’ point guard situation to a concerning height.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Vincent, who will miss six to eight weeks of work, will have arthroscopic surgery on his injured left knee as soon as Tuesday, December 26.

After agreeing to a $33 million, three-year contract this past offseason, Vincent has only made five appearances for the Lakers this season.

“Your primary responsibility is to ensure that he is healthy and well-being,” Lakers head coach Darvin Ham stated on December 23 on Spectrum SportsNet. “After that, you simply attempt to initiate Plan B, or the next man up, as it were.

“Knowing what’s going on with him and getting him in a position where he can get healthy is our first priority.”

On November 30, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated them 133-110, proving that the ruse was successful. The Lakers reversed the roles, with James setting the pace and Russell playing uninhibited off the bench.

On Saturday, December 23, James, 38, made history by becoming the oldest player in the NBA to score 40 points on a perfect 3-point shooting night, helping the Lakers defeat the Thunder 129-120 on the road
