As is often the case, Leeds United were linked with a host of players during the summer transfer window.
Some of those links turn out to be more accurate than others, but if one thing is for sure, Leeds were beaten to the signature of several targets.
On top of the nine they ended up bringing in, deals for the likes of Max Aarons, Gustavo Hamer and Matt O’Riley failed to materialise, as they either moved elsewhere, or stayed put.
Another name to add to that list is striker Sory Kaba, who was a name that constantly cropped up throughout the window after a successful loan spell in the Championship at Cardiff City last season.
Kaba scored eight goals in 17 appearances after joining in January, a run which did not go unnoticed by Leeds, or other Championship clubs including West Brom and Birmingham City.
FLW first claimed in June Leeds had sent scouts to watch him play, before Spanish site UD Las Palmas.Net reported that the Whites were one of six Championship sides interested in the 28-year-old.
However, in the end, Kaba did not make his return to the Championship, instead joining La Liga outfit Las Palmas for around £1.7m, as per La Provincia.
After such an impressive spell in South Wales, Kaba will have been expecting to hit the ground running at Las Palmas, but that has not been the case.
Kaba is yet to get off the mark for his new club in seven appearances, which would suggest Leeds have dodged a bullet not signing him.
Leeds instead decided to spend heavily to sign Joel Piroe from Swansea City, who has already proven his worth with five goals in eight matches.
