The New York Mets still have the opportunity to place the cherry on top of their roster with the regular season approaching fast.

Heyman also mentioned Martinez’s interest in becoming a Los Angeles Angel.

Martinez and the Mets have resumed conversations, but according to MLB insider Andy Martino of SNY, these discussions have never taken a serious turn as of March 13.

J.D. Davis, the Mets’ designated hitter/third baseman, was apparently having serious talks about returning, but he ultimately signed with the Oakland Athletics.
