Chelsea could offer young midfielder Andrey Santos to Nottingham Forest in an attempt to sign Brennan Johnson before the end of the window, according to reports.
Johnson has emerged as a potential target for Mauricio Pochettino’s side in the final weeks of the transfer window. The academy graduate has been targeted by Brentford this summer, with the Reds turning down bids form the Bees.
There have been other clubs interested in the winger, with Chelsea reportedly holding initial talks with Forest over a deal following Michael Olise’s decision to stay at Crystal Palace. Chelsea had triggered a release clause in the forward’s contract, but he opted to put pen-to-paper on a new deal at Selhurst Park instead of moving to Stamford Bridge.
According to the Daily Mail, Forest have turned to Santos in their search for a new midfielder this summer. The 19-year-old was part of the Blues’ pre-season preparations but was an unused substitute against Liverpool and was left out of the squad completely for Sunday’s 3-1 loss to West Ham.
The report says that the option of offering Santos on loan as well as cash to Forest “appeals” to some of those at Chelsea, with it being a potential option for the Blues as they look to bolster their attack.
Santos only joined Chelsea back in January, arriving at the club from Brazilian side Vasco da Gama. He spent the second half of last season back on loan with his former club before returning to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
