Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement with Wolves for the signing of Matheus Nunes with Tommy Doyle heading in the opposite direction on loan. Pep Guardiola entered the final few days of the transfer window wanting to bolster his midfield options, particularly with Kevin De Bruyne’s injury setback.

The figure was said to be way short of Wolves’ valuation, reported to be closer to £60m. But negotiations have been ongoing with City not giving up on signing Nunes, who went on strike at Wolves earlier this week to push through a move to the Etihad.
A compromise now appears to have been reached between City and Wolves with the Mirror reporting an agreement is in place between the two clubs. It’s said that City will stump up £50m to sign the Portuguese midfielder, short of what Wolves were asking for.
However, part of the agreement will reportedly see 21-year-old Doyle head in the opposite direction. Doyle also plays in midfield and spent last season on loan at Sheffield United, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League.
He also featured for England in the Under-21 European Championships earlier this summer, coming off the bench in the final as the Three Lions won the tournament. Doyle expressed his hope of spending another season out on loan from City earlier this summer.
The midfielder stated he wanted to experience regular Premier League football to assess where he stands in the City pecking order.
