the Eagles announced yet another shocking salary cap and depth chart update with the awarding of a $37.8 million deal to Saquon Barkley.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that the free-agent running back had agreed to a three-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles worth up to $46.7 million and $26 million fully guaranteed at signing.

The deal has a maximum average-per-year salary of $15.8 million, which would be the most ever for a running back, per Schefter.

According to Over the Cap, the Eagles entered free agency with $42.9 million in cap space.

Here is a look at their offensive skill player depth chart.

QB: Jalen Hurts, Marcus Mariota, Tanner McKee

RB: Saquon Barkley, Kenneth Gainwell, Boston Scott, Rashaad Penny, Lew Nichols

WR: A.J. Brown, Devonta Smith, Julio Jones, Olamide Zaccheaus, Quez Watkins, Britain Covey, Jacob Harris, Joseph Ngata, Austin Watkins Jr, Shaquan Davis, Griffin Hebert

TE: Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcaterra, Albert, Okwuegbunam, Noah Togiai

Barkley spent the first six seasons of his career with the New York Giants. He rushed for 5,211 yards with 35 touchdowns and was named to two Pro Bowls and was the Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2018.

He had 247 carries for 962 yards and six touchdowns in 14 games for New York in 2023. This came despite the team stepping back and going 6-11 after reaching the postseason in 2022.

He now goes to a division rival that is in “win-now mode” and looking to make a splash following a disappointing end to the 2023 season. Philadelphia started the season 10-1 before a 1-5 finish caused it to fall to a wild-card spot and eventually a Wild Card Round exit at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Philadelphia was the eighth-ranked rushing attack in the NFL in 2023, and Barkley will only add to the potency of the attack.

It also means he will have two games per season against his previous team.
