The four-time Pro Bowl player made the decision to sign a contract with the Cowboys, though the team’s roster may have had some influence.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Mike Fisher, the Cowboys might be able to acquire the recently freed Justin Houston. The 34-year-old linebacker can now sign with a playoff contender for their final stretch as the regular season draws to a close and the playoffs get underway. The linebacker was released by the Carolina Panthers on Tuesday.

Houston was a four-time Pro Bowler from 2012 to 2015, but he is a long way from his prime. Still, the Cowboys and other playoff contenders may benefit from his experience. But as Fisher points out, Dallas’ pass-rushing depth chart is already stacked.
