The Kaizer Chiefs have officially retired Luke Fleurs’ jersey number and declared to retired another

Luke Fleurs was shot dead on 3 April, and he had not kicked a ball in a competitive match for Kaizer Chiefs at the time of his passing.

JERSEY NO. 26 IS RETIRED BY KAIZER CHIEFS IN HONOR OF LUKE FLEURS
In remembrance of Luke’s life and impact, the team has chosen to retire number 26. At Fleurs’ memorial service on Thursday, Kaizer Jr. declared, “No other player will ever wear the jersey number again.”

THREE JERSEY NUMBERS HAVE NOW BEEN RETIRED BY AMAKHOSI
The Chiefs have retired three jersey numbers as of this most recent development.

Doctor Khumalo’s No. 15, which he wore while playing, was the first jersey number to be retired.

The Chiefs retired the No. 20 jersey in October 2021 as a tribute to the legendary Howard Freese, who played a distinguished career for the team.

The Glamour Boys have now added Fleurs’ No. 26 jersey to the list as a token of respect and remembering.
